Sheriff Jim Adkins was appointed May 26, 2010. He was elected to the Office of Sheriff November, 2010.
Previous positions held with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office were Marine Deputy, Corrections Deputy, Patrol deputy, Patrol Sergeant, Narcotics Detective (Lt), and Undersheriff prior to becoming Sheriff. From 1985-1986, Sheriff Adkins was in the United States Army.
